Day of Surgery:

Arrival Time: Please arrive at least one hour before your scheduled surgery time to allow for check-in and pre-operative preparations.
Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to put on and remove.
Personal Items: Remove all nail polish, makeup, jewelry, and body piercings before arrival. If you wear contact lenses or glasses, please bring a storage case for safekeeping during surgery.
Valuables: Do not bring valuables to the surgery center. We are not responsible for lost or misplaced items.
Identification & Payment: Bring your insurance cards and a government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license). If a payment is required, please bring an accepted form of payment.

Transportation & Care: If you are receiving general anesthesia, you must arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to the center, receive discharge instructions, and drive you home. It is recommended that someone stay with you for the first 24 hours following surgery.

Note: Patients will receive detailed Pre-operative instructions specific to their procedure prior to the day of surgery.

If required, follow your doctor’s instructions for obtaining medical clearance and completing any necessary tests (e.g., bloodwork, ECG, X-rays) before your scheduled surgery.
Inform your doctor of all the medications and supplements you are currently taking.
A nurse will contact you approximately one week before your surgery to review your medical history, medications, and specific pre-operative instructions.
Follow all guidelines regarding which medications to continue or discontinue before surgery.
If undergoing general anesthesia, do not consume any food or drink after midnight on the night before your procedure. This includes coffee, tea, gum, candy, mints, and cough drops. Failure to comply may result in a delay or cancellation of your surgery.
If your procedure is performed under local anesthesia only, fasting restrictions may not be required.
You may take approved medications with a small sip of water, as instructed.
Arrange transportation to and from the surgery center, as you will not be permitted to drive after receiving anesthesia.
You will receive detailed procedure-specific pre-operative instructions from the nurse.

Note: Patients will be provided with comprehensive pre-operative instructions tailored to their specific procedure on the day of surgery.

Return Home: Patients are advised to go directly home after surgery unless a prescription needs to be picked up from the pharmacy.
Rest & Activity: Limit activities and rest for the remainder of the day. Light to normal activities may be resumed the following day.
Driving & Machinery: Do not drive or operate heavy machinery for at least 24 hours after receiving anesthesia.
Physical Restrictions: Avoid strenuous activities, including exercise and lifting objects heavier than 20 pounds, for 14 days.
Wound Care: Keep the surgical site clean and dry. Change dressings as instructed and avoid submerging the wound in water until cleared by your physician.
Dietary Guidelines: Avoid greasy and spicy foods immediately after surgery. You may experience nausea for up to 24 hours due to anesthesia. If you do not feel nauseated, you may resume your regular diet as tolerated.
Alcohol & Medication: Refrain from consuming alcohol while taking prescribed pain medications. Take all medications as directed and consult your physician before using over-the-counter pain relievers.
Follow-Up Care: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe pain, signs of infection, or other complications.
